FILLING A NEED

Ana Silva Rey is a dedicated leader in Charlotte, North Carolina, renowned for her advocacy of bilingual education and her commitment to empowering Latino communities. Originally from Mexico, Ana moved to North Carolina in 1998 to pursue her studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Since then, she has become a passionate advocate for educational equity, particularly for Latino families in the region.

In March 2024, Ana was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Charlotte Bilingual Learning Center, a nonprofit organization focused on providing high-quality bilingual education to Latino children and their families. Her leadership at CBLC highlights her steadfast dedication to fostering inclusive learning environments that celebrate bilingualism and cultural diversity.

Before joining Charlotte Bilingual, Ana served as Executive Director of Latin Americans Working for Achievement for five years. There, she led initiatives aimed at supporting Latino youth in their academic success and helping them pursue higher education opportunities.

In addition to her leadership roles, Ana contributes to the broader educational community as a member of the Board of Trustees at Carolina University, where she continues to advocate for educational advancement and community engagement. Through her work, Ana has played an essential role in expanding educational resources for Latino communities in Charlotte, reinforcing her lifelong commitment to education and cultural inclusivity.
